01.08.08 IN MEMORY OF DREW GLACKIN 1963-2008 - MEMBER OF TANDY, THE SILOS, ETC, ETC.

We would like to take a moment to thank Drew Glackin for bringing so much happiness, talent and passion to the world. His spirit and his contributions to music will live on forever. Anyone who remembers his contagious smile will know that he would not want us to be sad about his passing... but we are, Drew.

When Drew was on stage, he exuded pure joy - and he was on stage a lot. He played in dozens of bands and was the master of dozens of instruments (on the last Tandy release alone, he is credited with playing electric guitar, bass guitar, Hawaiian lap guitar, lap steel, mandolin, mandocello, and singing vocals). Drew was very proud of his work with Tandy. A few months ago, I had a fantastic talk with him at the Lakeside Lounge, and he was telling me how happy he was that I was giving To A Friend a "real" release. "It is better than the White Album," he raved... and I agreed with him.

He is best known for his work with The Silos. We would like to post their message about Drew... they say it best:

It is with greatest sadness that we inform you of the passing of Drew Glackin.

He was unaware of an overactive thyroid condition that led to severe heart damage. He was surrounded by family and friends during his final days and hours and we are all still in a state of shock and disbelief.

Drew was adored around the world and his larger than life spirit and contagious jovial energy touched everyone he met, everywhere he went. He was a musician of the highest talent and made his mark in countless bands, record albums, and many thousands of live performances. He will be sorely missed and the memories of his music, his great humor, and his magnanimous generosity of spirit and love will be with us forever.

A fund will be set up to help his family with expenses and we will keep you informed of memorial concerts and events as they develop.

We will all keep Drew in our hearts,

Konrad, Rod and Walter.
